'Live at the Banks House'
by
Will Regan & United Pursuit

I love this album. I saw these guys play live and I love the passion that they have for Jesus. I went online looking for their music and this album had the most essential songs that I wanted (such as "Nothing I Hold Onto" and "Set a Fire")

If calling their songs "simple" would turn anyone off...I won't use that word ha ha. What I treasure in United Pursuit are their easy to memorize, powerful lyrics that are both personal yet easy for the church to take and make their own. I can't listen to a song like 'Climb' from start to finish and NOT be powerfully moved by the time we reach the bridge "I will climb this mountain with my hands wide open". My spirit responds to those words and I'm engaging with God and my soul is bursting out of my being every single time! These songs will minister to you as you minister to the Lord in song :)

Musically these guys are really tight musicians, and they flow in and out of song transitions beautifully. There's never a moment of awkward silence or overbearing soloing going on. These guys could dish out a 20 minute Sunday set or a 2 hour Worship night seemingly on the fly if the situation demanded it. The acoustic guitar leads the music, accompanied by a beautiful piano, a djembe drum(I think) and at times a violin. When the music is really loud and driving sometimes I wish there was an electric guitar or even a second acoustic plucking notes. With one acoustic guitar strumming so hard to build a chorus, at times you start to hear less of a chord sound and more of a rhythmic "TWANG TWANG TWANG TWANG" sound, but not often,
At first I was bummed that it's somewhat of a 'rough recording' of a live worship set....and even no full drum kit! (I'm a drummer, and saw them live with a great drummer) But the organic atmosphere that is created when there's a room full of hungry worshipers being led into His presence by a talented and anointed leader more than made up for it NOT being a studio album, and their hunger is contagious!

I know sing many songs from this album to my 18 month old daughter as she goes to sleep... sometimes I'll put the music on quietly, other time I'll just lead with my voice, and the sweet presence of the Lord helps my sweet little kid go to sleep peacefully :) Two of my favorite songs to sing her are "In the Quiet" and "Praise is Befitting"
I recommend this album to anybody who wants to fill their ears or their home with intimate, often relaxing worship music. I give this album 3 Doritos Locos Tacos.
